I have a euro spector and the tonepump sucks, imo. I reckon the aguilar is better as they put that in the USA models, so i assume that works for them and they believe thats the spector tone so im probably going to get the aguilar OBP2, or 3. but i would need a new pot for the obp3 and drill my bass. I hate stacked knobs.

But its the parsnip season right now. so thats what i went for.

I voted for the EMG pre because I have one in my Spector and I love it. I'm a big fan of the Aguilar pres too and they would probably work just as well. But, I think EMG pickups really shine when they are paired with an EMG preamp.

Could you elaborate on "really shine"? I have a 2006 Euro5LX with the Tonepump and have thought about replacing it for a couple of reasons. Mainly, I'd rather have boost and cut for the treble/bass tone controls. Second, I'd like vol/blend instead of vol/vol controls. When you say "really shine" are you talking about a brighter tone (what I don't want) or a fuller tone, meaning less harshness on the high end and more pronounced mids?

Also, should I consider replacing the current EMG hum pups with the single/hum EMG's?

+1. I'm a huge OBP-3 fan, but my NS4CRFM has an EMG P/J setup with and EMG BTS circuit. IMO they are a perfect pair. I'd personally choose the BTS circuit first, but you can't go wrong with the OBP-2, either.
