Aguilar OBP-2 wiring question

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm currently installing an OBP-2 into my Warwick Thumb BO. The questions I have is what to do with the 2 red wires from the pickups. According to Warwicks schematic these wires are supplying power to the pickups as they are active, but the Aguilar wire schematic only shows the main wire for the pickup. The original MEC preamp had the red wires soldered onto the treble/bass pot next to where the postive feed from the battery was and was getting power there. The Aguilar battery goes directly into the preamp, so nowhere to actually attach the red wires. Hope this all makes sense. Here's links to the 2 schematics. I'm using the volume-blend-stacked treble/bass setup.

if all you need is a 9V + signal to the pickups, I'd say just tap off the + on the battery to the pickups. I mean, that's what's going on in the WQarwick schematic, except they have the pickups connecting to the circuit board on the stacked pot, which is most likely connected to the battery + input right next to that red wire.

If the battery's positive terminal is connected directly to the preamp, try soldering the battery's positive terminal, the preamp's supply lead, and the pickup supply leads all together, and tape/shrink wrap the connection.
