Aguilar OBP-3/Nordstrand pickups

How many people out there use this combination? I was reading a lot of old threads and found this seems to be a pretty good match. I've been on a very long quest to modify my ESP/LTD B-206. It's setup for F# and I need something that is really going to enhance the tone and sound of it. It has stock pickups (ESP) which I believe are fairly similar to EMG (or so I'm told).

I'm thinking about trying an Aguilar OBP-3 with mid-frequency selector switch and some Nordstrand Big Singles for this beast of a six string.

For those out there running this combination or have used this combination, let me know about your experiences! Anyone who just uses the Aggie or the Nordstrand pickups, post your experiences as well. I'd love to hear any recommendations!

Thanks a lot,

Josh

I've got a Roscoe SKB-3006 with Nord DC's and the OBP-3. I love it. Very open, a bit aggressive in the mids, very fat down low, and crisp up high. I kind of think of it as a Roscoe on steroids...it maintains the character of the instrument (i.e. very punchy, fat down low, compressed upper mids & highs) but offers a fair amount more bark.

I can't speak to the big singles, but I'd offer a guess that they might be spot-on for getting some tone out of that F#. Good luck!

I've got the BS's with an OBP-1 and it's a great match. A little boost of the bass gives the whole neck a little more punch.
