aguilar obp-3 pot help

Sign in to disble this ad
i need some help. i have had the aguilar obp-3 sitting in a box of bass parts for over a year now. Originally i took it to a shop to have them install it, however they told me i did not have the correct pots nor could they find them.

i am trying to install the preamp in my warwick, which has Seymour Duncan AJJ-1 pickups in it.

I already have the b50k stacked and b50k mid pot that were included with the aguilar.

also, i have the 100k volume pot that is currently in my bass with the SD's.

However i only have room for four pots. so i need to use a blend pot. but i have no clue what rating pot i need. Can anyone help me?

I wouldn't recommend using a 100K volume pot, it's going to sound like crap.

Here is a thread about pot resistance.
It applies similarly to blend pots actually, so it should be relevant.

What effect does 1 meg pot have? Also, audio vs. linear

I would recommend 500K personally.

I just looked, mine has 2 vol pots which are 250kA. Not sure why you need a blend unless you just like/want one, vol/vol works just as well. You might even find a stacked 250k/250k for the vols and use the other space for active/passive, or mid switch or whatever.

There are several graphic drawings showing different options (if you need them) at:

I have an aggie obp-3 in my project bass and had to buy a blend pot. 500k linear pot will get the job done perfectly!
