Aguilar OBP-3 Radio signals!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

This seems to be a common problem among OBP-3 users. The OBP-3 on my Lakland bass is picking up radio signals when I touch the EQ knobs.

I know it will be solved when I ground the EQ pots, but the solder won't stick on the back of the pots! I tried using flux, different rosin core lead, scraping the pots, but they all didn't work.

Are there any other solutions? Maybe using shielding?

Thanks guys...

Radio signals eh? Happened a lot on an old crate amp my middle school had. I haven't had any radio signals but sort of a white noise sometimes when I touch the knobs. I have trouble with soldering onto pots and what works for me is when the solder is fresh and in a different spot from where it didn't stick. Best of luck getting rid of the radio, I hope its a decent station atleast!

Get the pots grounded!

You shouldn't be having any problems getting the solder to stick to the back of the pot, but either way, you can connect all your grounds to the shield work instead, and make sure that the pots are making good continuity to the shielding.
