Aguilar OBP-3 vs. Nordstrand 3 band pre
I'm about to put a new pre in my lakland 55-94. I've narrowed my choices down to two preamps.
1. Aguilar's OBP-3
2. Nordstrand 3 band pre
The bass already has Nordstrand pickups in it.
If anyone has had a head to head experience with these two preamps could you give me your opinion.
I play in a wedding/casino bands, so a good solid foundation, and flexibility are my main concerns.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
They are both phenomenal. In my experience, the Aguilar is a hair-bit on the darker side, yet it is one of the most powerful onboard preamps there are. The Nordstrand is more natural sounding yet modern. Yet the Aguilar is also modern.
Either one will be a perfect match for your Nordstrand pickups. I'm personally biased towards the Aguilar because of the range in decibels and the output it has.
Bottom line: you can't go wrong with either one.
I have to agree you really can't go wrong with either. I do have to lean toward the aguilar as well. It has a little more boom to it and that is what I really want in my basses.
