Question Aguilar OBP-3 vs Spector TonePump

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,

Right now I have a Spector Euro LX5 with factory pickups and electronics (Spector TonePump).

What can I expect soundwise if I replace the TonePump with an Aguilar OBP-3?

Thanks!
B

If nobody had these two preamps to compare, can you please just describe what the Aguilar OBP-3 is like?

Thanks

I'm gonna go ahead and revive this thread, because I'm in the exact same boat as the TS and am interested as well.

With a little bit of a search I was able to find this thread about putting an OBP-3 in a Spector.

Might give you some idea.

Also, there's the mighty Spector Tone Dump thread. Though there's little OBP-3 specific content there.. yet.

The Tone Pump does not seem to be very highly regarded whereas folks seem to love the OBP-3. I have an OBP-3 in my Yamaha and it is a very powerful tone shaping tool.
