Which of the Aggie models do you recommend for a J bassas far as sound and compatibility for installation? Are there diagrams available for passive bypass?

obp-1, and yes, it can work with just one battery. aguilar published a lot of wiring options for that preamp on their site, including adding of DPDT switch for preamp bypass and adding passive tone control which is also very useful feature

the obp1 works only at 18 v(2 batteries)

No, it works at 9V too.

It works at 9V, 18V and 27V.
