I'm trying to install this blasted OBP1 and the schematic seems incomplete. I am trying to install this in a jazz bass. Here goes...
1. I'm wiring both pickups to one volume pot. Where does the hot go, and where does the ground go?
1 1/2. does the terminal on the left of the volume pot get soldered to the back of the pot like on passive wiring?
2. Where does the bridge lead go?
3. battery lead goes red from preamp to red on the battery lead, then black to black, then red to jack, right?
I must be an idiot. I got no sound on any of my attempts to wire this thing. Nothing. Not even when I try touching around on the wiring... |

In the future, I may drill a hole in the body for the jack. I can't even get it to make any noise with only one pickup. I may have to just start over, and use a different volume pot. I figured it would make some kind of noise... |

You say "battery lead goes red from preamp to red on the battery lead, then black to black, then red to jack, right?".
Actually, no. In order for 2 9v batteries to be wired in 18v, it should go red from pre to red from first battery, then the 2 inner wires from both batteries (in this case a red and a black) are wired together, then the other black wire goes to the jack. If you wired it black to black, I think the batteries are wired in parallel, making it a 9v system, with, essentially, twice the battery life of a normal 9v system (due to the 2 batteries). The way I explained wires them in series, making it 18v. Look closely at the diagram and make sure the corect posts on the batteries are wired together. Theoretically, since this is an 18v pre, wiring it in 9v would cause it not to power up. |

Edit: I was too slow typing this.

Instead of drilling holes you could get a stacked pot for the bass and treble tone control.

I do have the batteries wired up right to the schematic (and as you all pointed out above). Thanks again! There must be something else wrong here.
Hmmmmmmmm.
