Aguilar OBP2 in a Warwick Thumb

For starters, the bass is a 2001 Limited Edition Thumb so I don't want to change the body at all, so no serious modding, but I've been having a lot of trouble with the factory pre-amp. Output signal is really low (doesn't trigger effects correctly without serious gain added, even with new batteries) and it seems to have started to cut in and out a little bit. A while back my shop in town noticed that the circuit board was cracked and tried to fix it, but its just not doing the trick. I've done some homework and think I want to go with the OBP-2 but was wondering if anyone has any experience with this setup and could provide any opinions/thoughts before I fully commit.

As far as the tone I like, I tend to strive for a "modern" tone, but I like it a little chunkier then many modern tones I've heard and I really don't like string clank. I was always happy with the sound of the stock pre-amp, but would like to thicken it a little which I'm hoping the Aguilar will provide.

I removed my Aguilar preamp and install a Glockenlang with passive/active volume and what a different it made.
