Aguilar OBP3 to Passive Question

Sign in to disble this ad
Question (for those who want the short of it): Would setting my Aguilar OBP3 to the middle indents essentially give me the passive tone of my bass?

Reason and Question (for those who want more info): I've an Aguilar OBP3 in my Modulus Quantum 6 along with Bart Pups and I've been thinking about changing it out. Right now I'm leaning towards an Audere as that's what I have in my Jazz and love it. However, I've noticed that the Audere seems to stay really true to the passive tone of my Jazz IMO, which is why I like it, and I don't know what the passive tone is for my Q6. Thus, would setting my Aguilar OBP3 to the middle indents essentially give me the passive tone of my bass?

If the middle indents are a true indication of the passive tone my bass has, then I may need to look at a pickup change instead of a pre change first.

Thanks,
fishstix

I've never heard any noticable difference in sound when I toggle my Active/Passive switch if the pots are set on middle detent. I was actually quite surprised by the lack of sound change.

That means OBP-3 is such a transparent preamp, some like it others don't though. And I'm ordering one in a near future so its good to know its that transparent.
