FWIW:

Contact them. The J I've got uses a bar from what I can tell cause it drags a pup screw the entire length - my guess is they're all that way.

Looks like this pup would read for a span of right at 3 1/8" so if you're strings hit within those extremes I would expect so. That would be with the outer strings no further than that measurement - for this bridge J.

Call Alembic. Superb CS and will give you the actual answer. I know their pickups use a blade type polepiece.

If you are asking if the jz-4 pickups will work for a 5-er, then my experience is no; the magnetic arpeture is too narrow to adequately capture both the B and G. This was the case for my narrow-spaced 5-er with 17mm string-string spacing at the bridge. Just sold mine in fact for that very reason. Great pickups, and killer "superfilter" style preamp. My activators were circa early-90's. Unsure if the newer units are any different.
There are mfg's such as EMG that do make a 5 string jz pickup in a 4-string sized housing. I'd bet there are many others too. This seems to be the golden age for pickups..

If the q is "do they make a jz-5?", then I dunno..would be cool if so! (I prolly shoulda kept the preamp..)

You're likely already aware that there are a few different "standards" for jazz-style pickup widths for both 4 and 5 string basses.
