Question Alleva Coppolo Preamp

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey,

Can you buy an Alleva Coppolo onboard preamp? I know they sell it for sure as stompbox... but can you have it as onboard ?

If available, anybody tried it ? Easy to install ?
What would be the street price?

I'm trying to get a nice passive tone out of my MIA deluxe and I love Alleva Coppolo preamp concept. Other choice would be probably a J-retro. I have currently an Audere and it's a bit "polite" to my tastes...

Thanks, Paolo

As far as I know, Jimmy only sells his pre either installed in his basses or in the external stomp box. The box is quite expensive. Even though NAMM is getting close, Jimmy is very good at returning emails. Ask him... the email address is on his site.

REALLY nice pre for a J style instrument IMO and IME

Yeah, that's why it seems strange, in his website he says he put his preamp in seevral other basses therefore the question, I asked him, yes he's busy with NAMM but he returned the email, I think he sells it separately... will post asap....

Thank you as always Ken ! By the way, I'm dreaming about a LG-5, I like that bass so much... it might be that in 2008...

Cool! That pre is very, very nice... probably the most subtle and 'passive' sounding I've heard. The VTC type passive tone control is very nice and even also.

Let us know what the deal is on the onboard option for 'after market' installation.

Yeah, the LG's and LM's and RA's look amazing. I have a feeling there will be another one in line for me down the road.

I have an AC preamp in my jazz bass....Jimmy installed it in my bass as well as a spot for the battery and begged me to swap my EMGs for his AC pickups. I said no to the pickups because I didn't have enough money, but the preamp cost me $450 for the installation. He told me he wasn't doing many of these and was focusing more on his basses, and this was almost 4 years ago. He told me afterwards that my bass was the first bass he ever liked the sound of his preamp with EMGs....the preamp sounds AMAZING and I get compliments and questions every time i gig my jbass....it's wired volume/volume/treble/bass....the highs are just the right amount of sparkle to slap with perfect clarity, and the lows can go from Jaco nasally to dub fat....I'm actually thinking about pulling it out of that bass and dropping it in a pbass....
