Lightbulb Alpha pots on ebay from azjman?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I got a voicemail from my tech yesterday telling me that the 500k stacked CTS pots I gave him for my bass build were a bit snug for my cavity.

Mind you the bass originally had two mini pots where I planned to put the CTS's.

So my only options now are to get mini 500 k stacks. Basspartsresource and a couple other places seem to have the same no name brand of this pot type that I need. Then there is azjman (azguitarparts) on ebay who has them as Alpha pots.

I am a little worried though about Alpha quality vs CTS, since everyone here and elsewhere that I read rave about CTS. Also with it being ebay I am scared that they might not be real, even though the seller told me they have alpha etched into them.

What are your recommendations, I was almost considering scrapping my stack pot idea just to stick with CTS, since everyone vouches from them giving you the least scratchiness and best sound, etc

The Alpha's feel much smoother than CTS pots.

hmmm does anyone on this board have any experience with alpha pots from ebay or this seller in particular. CTS have been gassed up so much here on this forum that I am damn scared of using anything else, especially when its weird that I only could find the Alphas I needed on Ebay.

Would anyone happen to know where those Brand less pots basspartsresource has, come from? Are those their personal site brand?

Also A=Audio pot, B= Linear

correct?

Alpha pots are common among pedal builders. Their small form factor is a big plus in confined spaces.

I've bought parts from azjman. I can't remember what, exactly, but I used the business card he packs with orders for shims.

The guts of my Barge Concepts RC-3 ... the pots all say ALPHA.

Thanks stevo...love the alternate french spelling of your name haha. Im ordering now btw. I must say this forum is a god send in the build of my bass. I cant wait to show you guys before and after picks.

My bass is basically going for a punk bass that was all stickered and crap, to a nice groovey all around bass.

I've purchased several pots from azjman and they are good quality and all were in the tolerance range. They don't have that cheap feel when turning them and fit perfectly in the bass cavity through the wood. He sells a lot of parts and his feedback is 99.7% from 3,550 sales

Never had a problem with the guy. He's local and has strange hours that usually require an appointment, but he's been very responsive, both via email and over the phone. I've purchased a few items from him online for convenience and they were shipped out the same day or next morning.
