Alumitone position?

Sign in to disble this ad
It's new bass project time! I've got a single Alumitone Bass Bar 3.5 that I want to use, but I'm not sure where to position it.

I like the sound of them, from what samples I've heard, but this is the first one I've ever fiddled with, and I'd like to hear some opinions on the matter.

So, Alumitone aficionados, what do you think? Bridge pickup? Middle pickup? Something else?

Bridge, or maybe the "sweet spot" if you need to. These are very hot and dark pickups, and they have a noticeable bump in the midrange (around 500Hz) which is not going to work as well near the neck position. They really track the fundamental so firmly, so I would move them near the bridge to grab the midrange better.

Carrots for me.

I'm curious about this pickup. Thinking of one for a project bass.
