Am I the only one not satisfied with my Model Js?

I snapped a pair of model Js up after many people claiming that it is 'thick and ballsy as it gets'.

I dropped it into my early 90s mij alder/rosewood fender jazz, wired in series and complete with 500k tone pots. And I have to say I am underwhelmed with the sound. I got it installed by a reputable luthier, so its unlikely there is anything wrong with the wiring.

It jus sounds like my bass before the upgrade, just louder. There wasnt that much of a bottom as advertised, and whatever low end there is... it isnt 'tight' at all. I dont notice the treble roll off that much, either.

hmm

Why is bass better than guitar? Because you can't play 'Hey there Delilah' on bass.
