Why do you assume its just that bass?

(your profile isnt filled in so we can't see if you have other basses or what amp setup your using etc)

It could be an amp problem. Maybe try different strings? Again tho, would be good to have more info.

You could first try getting good strings and have it set up by a pro. That can make a big difference. I'd do that before going off buying an expensive preamp and finding out it makes very little difference.

I don't use roundwound strings any more so I can't advise you there. Back when I did, I found D'Addario were as good as most. I didn't like the Fender roundwounds. Trace Elliot had some good ones that I got for free as part of a factory promo event. I've played basses with Elixer strings and they were okay too.

If you want to pay the premium price, Thomastic makes some very good sounding roundwounds. But at this point, good regular strings and a setup by a pro is the way I'd go.

I don't know how long you've been playing or how good your technique is but that is important too.

You've got some decent gear. You should be able to get a sound with plenty of bass with that Fender, even stock. Have it looked at. Do some fooling around with pickup height too.

yeah i am going to get a good setup as i ussually do, but this one came almost perfect and i didnt want to change a thing at first, thats why i went with the same strings as it came with. but the taper core e string might actually be my problem as well.thanks for any input.
