American Deluxe Precision replacement recommendations...

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking to replace the P-pickup and MM style bridge pickup in a Fender American Deluxe precision. Also will have an Aguilar OBP-3 with it.

What are people's recommendations? What issues (in terms of blend, polarity, wiring, etc.) do i need to consider?

Right now i'm leaning towards Seymour Duncan's for both, but not sure which ones...

I want an authentic vintage P sound if I need it, but also want a good modern sound from the MM...

A normal MM style won't fit in the bridge position you'll have to do a bit of routing.

Look at Nordstrand. The P pickup gets rave reviews, and the Dual Coil might be a drop in replacement for the bridge humbucker. When I had an Am. Deluxe P, I thought about Rio Grande also. I think they made something that looked like it would fit in the bridge spot, possibly called the Powerbucker.

I believe that the Delano is a drop in replacement.....
