The pickups that come stock with Fender Highway 1 jazz basses are pretty much crap if sound is important to you. There are great sounding pickups out there (and I don't mean GFS), some of which are covered in recent topics.

My friend proudly brought over his newly aquired HW1 jazz bass which we A/B'd against my Geddy Lee. The Highway 1 pickups are much flatter and smoother sounding, like my Geddy with the tone pot rolled all the way off. Not to my liking at all. I would drop in some Basslines or Nordys (I want to try these!).
