Amp literature? How to's on how to build and repair?

Okay, I'm in school for electronics and I have a job as an electrician. I was wondering if anyone knew of any literature on amps, specifically. One that maybe better defines amp classes and their differences. Maybe a begginner book on constructing, repairing, trouble shooting, or just basic design in general. I have basic electrical knowledge. I'm studying to be a technician, and currently working as one, but i don't ever work on amps of any kind. This is mainly to suit my hobby (passion).

So any suggestions?

Hi.

A good call IMHO. There will always be a shortage of techs, especially those who are also musicians.

I don't know any good books about SS technology, but there's quite a few on tubes. That link is in my other computer, I'll look it up.

The reason for pushing You towards tubes is simple. There's virtually no schematics for SS amps of today, and the designs of SS amps is generally not tech friendly if there's no schematics.

Tube amps on the other hand are generally rather straight forward, so it's likely that someone traces the schematics even if it's officially unavailable.

Even though You speak of a hobby, you'll soon find yourself in a demand if you can resurrect dead amps .
As an electrician You also have one advantage over most hobbyists: You have the licence to repair electrical appliances, so it's legal.

Regards
Sam

Well I've been repairing quite a bit here lately. But nothing major. Re-capping stuff and fixin up crappy solder joints. My best friend is an engineer and just built a super reverb. I helped a lot with the project and was freakin amazed at what I could do. SO NOW I WANNA DO MORE! Ha ha, anyway thanks for the encouragement.
