Another J pickup question..

K, so I'm going to start hot rodding my MIM instead of selling it. I know very little about pickups so I was wondering what passive pups offer a dark, deep, and round sound

I love the Amalfitano pickups that I have in my custom Jazz (I've also had them in strats, teles and lps). They sound amazing!

To me that screams Bartolini. Barts (IMO) often sound what I would call dark... that is, they have deep bass response and somewhat rolled-off treble response. That, and they seem a bit warmer than a lot of other pickups.

That is exactly what I'm looking for, sorry for my lack of being to type my thoughts in a more thoughtful manner though

Good, hopefully you find what you're looking for!

I should have mentioned that there are several different Bartolini pickup lines, all having their own sound. Also, Bill Bartolini builds custom pickups for several different builders, and I'm sure they all have some variance in sound too. I'm not up on exactly which line carries which exact characteristics, so you'll have to read into that. Still, based on your desciption, I think Bartolini would be a good starting point for you.

Good luck!
