Another wiring diagram question...

Sign in to disble this ad
I have looked/searched and found parts of what I am looking for, but not the whole thing. I can solder and follow a diagram, but I am not good at figuring out how the wiring on my own.

What I am wanting to do is wire my Jazz bass (with Dimarzio Model J p'ups) to have the following:
One Tone, One Volume (I know that limits the sound possibilities...but i leave them both set equal anyhow) and a parallel/series switch.

I guess the reason that I haven't found what I am looking for is because of the four wires coming out of each p'up. I have found a wiring diagram for series/parallel for 4 wires...but not for 8 (both p'ups each having 4).

I hope that makes sense...and thanks in advance.

If you want to series/parallel each pickup, you need two switches.

If you want to series/parallel the pair, there are two wires you connect together on the Model J's, leaving you with 2 leads coming out of each pickup. Then the wiring is fairly standard and you probably have the diagram for that already.

OK...that was the part that I didn't understand. In the Dimarzio instructions it says to connect the Black and White then the Red and Green are used for the hot and ground...but I didn't know if I did that was the same if I was wiring the pair to Series/Parallel versus individually.
Thanks.

These diagrams may help. I forget if the Bart and DiMarzio colors are the same. There are a pair of wires for each coil of the pup.
