Exclamation The answer to the question that everybody wants to know!

Do CTS pots and "orange drop" caps really make that much of a difference?

The short answer is yes.

But the long answer is a little bit different. After gutting my Squier affinity jazz V I realized three things, one : "that orange drop is f*cking huge", Two: "these pats are very well made", three: "ahh f*ck the pot shaft is bigger then the bore in my control plate". After many long hours of reboring the holes in the control plate i was finally able to begin wiring. This was easy besides finding a place to fit the massive orange drop. ONce everything was set and done i pluged in my bass and gve it the rounds. What i noticed is the sound became much more clear when everything was full open, I also noticed that the tone control had a greater function in that it would not be comnpletely dulling my tone at 50% instead it remained much more clear until about 65%.

Did you have the drill in reverse, with a dull bit, installed backwards?

Yeah, I'm really confused about this?

I've used a reamer tool to widen holes on a control plate a couple of times. Took me about 30 seconds.

Reamer, isn't he a Baseketball star or something?

I did not have the correct tool for the job. My electric drill(s) are all broken at the moment (the chuckless cordless one has an internal short and the plug in one from the 50's has a bad wire. So i used a series of round files to enlarge the holes.
