Antiquity or Antiquity II - Visual Clues?

Sign in to disble this ad
I picked up a Precision bass which the seller told me it has an Antiquity pickup. He wasn't sure if it was the Antiquity or the Antiquity II pickup.

Is there a way to visually tell which is which?

Thanks!

Hey Groover - there are two version of the Antiquity and one of the Antiquity II (links w/pics below). If your pickup has raised magnets in the "A" string position, it's the Antiquity 11044-12 model. If not, the Antiquity and Antiquity II look awfully similar. You might try emailing SD to get more info.

Thanks for the reply and links. I forgot about this post!

The pickups I have are defenetely not the raises A ones... I'll have to contact SD as you suggested when I get a chance.

Thanks again!

It might have an identifying sticker on the bottom. I recently installed an SD pup and I recall something but don't remember exactly what it said.

All SD pickups are supposed to be marked with model info on the bottom - not sure if it's the name or model number (11044-11 or 11044-16) as above. For a P pickup, you should be able to just remove two screws and look at the bottom or slip a small mirror underneath if you don't have enough slack in the wire.
