Is there a difference between a 1/4" (head)phone jack and a 1/4" input jack for a guitar???

I dont believe so, but just want to be sure before I replace mine...

Just that the headphone jack would almost certainly be stereo, and your bass almost certainly won't, but I don't think that will be a problem providing you use the right contacts on the stereo jack.

I'm not sure what product you're interested in since the link you provided brings up the main GC page. Anyway, active basses use the two lugs on the stero jack as a switch such that the inserted plug would close the switch and feed juice to all electrical components in the bass. That's why you have to unplug the cable from an active bass when not in use since the "switch" would still be closed and the electronics would still be drawing juice. In the case of passive basses, the regular mono jack would work fine.
