Question Any experience with Nordstrand Dual Coils

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Dean Edge 5 with EMG-HZ's and a passive circuit and while the bass bass feels and plays great, it sounds aneimic next to my active Edge Improv 5 and my G&L L2500. There are not many replacement for 40 size EMG five string pickup that I have found, but I have seen that Nordstrand makes a humbucking dual coil that will fit. How do these pickups sound compared to the EMG's and does the single coil mode sound like a Jazz pickup?

Thanks

Awesome thread billbern!! I think I will be going with the DC's with a three way switch for series/parallel/single operation. Looks like they have the versatility and quaility sound I've been looking for.

A bit offtopic, but i believe it would help.

I also interested in this pups (EMG40 shaped Nordies), but the only issue i face is that my 5stringer has string spacing 16.5mm, but all Nordies designed for 19mm. So i had mailed to them and had an answer:

Hello Dmitry,
Thank you for your interest in Nordstrand Pickups.

Yes. We offer EMG 35, 40 and 45 size covers.
We may be able to make you pickups for the 16.5mm spaced bridge, but
this will depend upon what model of pickup you would like.

I hope that was some help but please do not hesitate to write if you
have further questions.

Take care,
Stew McKinsey
