I'm looking to mod my Jazz with 500K pots, and I found this on Ebay-

http://cgi.ebay.com/PREWIRED-JAZZ-BA...item3a5d802196

Anybody ever bought from here? Would you trust it for that price?

* Awesome Chrome Finish
* Prewired
* Knobs Included
* Two B500K pots for two tone controls
* One A500K pot for the volumn control

That's not right.

There should be two volumes and one tone.
I'm not sure what tapers the volume and tone controls really are, but I would want linear volumes and audio tones.

OTOH, I'll overlook the spelling errors in the listing, because that control plate has an "awesome chrome finish!"

Nice catch, I didn't notice that flub at all. I dunno, I wonder if that's just a typo...They're just so tempting at that price...

It looks to be wired correctly, but I suspect they are audio tapered volume pots and a linear tone.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does this mean for the way they'll work as controls as opposed to how my current factory pots work?

sorry, for 12 bucks you'd be better off buying beer.

in theory, if they're linear volumes and an audio tone they'll work perfectly.

if they're audio volumes and a linear tone (especially if they're all 500kΩ), the volumes will drop off instantly from "10" like a switch, and the tone will do nothing, then drop off when it gets close to "0".

the thing is, though, real CTS pots will cost about $5 each, and a real switchcraft jack will be a couple of bucks. (a real jackplate will be $10-$15, but why buy what you already have?)

buying super-cheap low-quality gear is false economy i my book.
