Any idea what this 1955 P-Bass pickup might be worth?

Before I go to the classified, I'd like to pick you guys' brains about how much y'all think this 1955 Fender P-Bass pickup might be worth?

Here is a link with a few images of the pickup.

For those who'd like to know, I owned the 55 P-bass back in the 80's, now it's long gone, however I found the original pickup this past weekend...

Thx for your help

I owned a 56 P-bass in the 1980's. The pickup was shot, with the wiring all coming apart. It was all there otherwise, with a Oct 56 date on the bottom in pencil. I replaced it, and threw the original pickup in a drawer...

About 1998, I found it while cleaning up at my Mom's house, and put it up on ebay. My pride-and joy 56 P-Bass did not survive my divorce in 991, so it too is long gone. Two guys started emailing me immediately, so I posted more pics and info. In 1998, I sold this ratty original 56 P-bass pickup for $87.00.

If yours works, my guess these days would be that it is worth several hundred dollars. Remember, a replacedment rep[ro pickup is nice, but an original 1950's is prceless.

Shouldn't that pickup have an extra ground lead that goes to the cover?

The E magnet is loose, which would make the pickup unuseable IF it still works. Trying to reposition the magnet would likely break the coil.

I'm not sure that's a real Fender '55 SCPB pickup. I don't know what you have there, and it appears to be in "suitable for repair" condition.

Edit: I forgot to say that I'm pretty sure that the "dead giveaway" it isn't a Fender '55 is the use of non-staggered magnets (which began in early '52). I think it's worth $15-20 tops.

If you have a dial caliper measure the diameter of the E magnet. Is it about .188", .196", or .2"?

Thanks for your feedback guys,
2 guys in my area are going to be looking at it, one is a guitar tech, and the other one a vintage guitar dealer. I'll post here what they say.

Keep the comments comin' in...
