Is that one of your basses, David? I'd hate to have that happen to a customer's bass. |

I was mortified when I saw that. I had three liters of that epoxy. It was from a very reputable firm. I had to throw it out and go back to the stuff I used to use, which is four times the price, but worth every penny in the long run.

When talking about it over at the pickup makers forum I didn't realize the extent of the problems you had with it. I had a pickup that took a couple days till the tack was gone but nothing like that. I am officially frightened to use it now. What did you move on to, WM ?

What did you move on to, WM ? | I had actually bought more of it, figuring the first batch was bad. I even talked to the guy that used to be the owner, who suggested this elaborate mixing procedure. The second batch seemed OK, but then I started having the problem with it being tacky, and then not drying.
Now keep in mind that the leaking pickup in the photo I posted appeared to have been cured. it was a little sticky, but didn't seem soft and mushy.
The epoxy I use now, and that I used to use, is MG Chemicals Potting Compound. You can get it from Mouser. I've never had an issue with it, and it turns into a solid lump of plastic. It's nylon filled too. MG Chemicals 832B-3L

Now I just hope that everything about the order is correct - the right size, etc. I'm hopeful! My bass has had black cardboard "pickups" in the soapbar pickup routes while I've been using the MM pickup installed between. I'm looking forward to hearing how a Nordstrand MM and SGD Sidewinders will sound together. |

I should be able to get vintage MM and vintage Jazz tones, as well as more modern tones since I've got an Audere preamp in the bass as well. I'll be really nice to have this project finished. |

It made a lot of difference over the stock pre!
I ordered the sidewinders to see If I can get even more Variation!
Are you using a 3 or 4 band Audere |

Are you using a 3 or 4 band Audere | Mine is the 4-band. I like the low and high mid EQ choices. I haven't found the Z-mode switch to be all that useful, though. I need to learn how to adjust it effectively, though. |
