Anyone here experiemented MIDI bass/MIDI pickup?

Curious if anyone has installed the Roland MIDI bass pick up on their bass and suggestions for best tracking?

How does it track overall?

Are some types of basses better suited for midi bass set ups than others?

Thank you!

Sebastian,

Roland doesn't make a MIDI pickup. They make a 6-channel pickup with a 13-pin output that can be sent to a MIDI converter to get a MIDI signal, but the pickup itself does not generate MIDI and doesn't do any "tracking".

I've got the Sonuus B2M. Not exactly what you're asking about, but a decent option for under $100.

It's not great, but for the price it's pretty darned good. Of course you can't fly all over the neck, but it tracks OK. Much better higher on the neck than down low.

Passive / active, pickup position and tone settings make a big diefference. I've had best luck on passive basses using the bridge pickup and rolling the tone back.

I would never say it's reliable enough tracking for a live setting, but I've yet to hear any other options that really are and most are way more expensive.
