Bad Capacitor?

Sign in to disble this ad
Im replacing a pot that I had accidentally destroyed some time ago The bass is setup just like a jazz. i've checked a few diagrams and everything is now connected properly. when i plug in and strum though, no sound emits. when i touch certain terminals it does buzz slightly though. would a bad capacitor be the source of the problem? if not what else?

i was just gonna say that i've literally never encountered a "bad" cap in a guitar, unless one of the legs was broken.

Yeah, unless you're plugging your bass into a wall outlet, it should never see enough juice to blow a cap. Physical damage is the only type I've ever seen in caps.
