barcus berry piezzo ?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a guild b30 that I want to electify.

I will try the barcus berry piezzo - low cost solution. Not sure if I will get the "outsider"
http://barcusberry.com/product_html/1457_1457xl.html
or the "soundboard" model
http://barcusberry.com/product_html/disqis_disqos.html

Different place for these two units.By touching the wood of the bridge and the top of the guitar I think the bridge get a little more vibrations...

Any idea of what would be the better place ? Bridge (soundboard model) or top (outsider).I suppose there is a little difference in sound...

And my old guild have a nitro finish. Is there an issue with the adhesive mounting piece ?

Not familiar with the bass but it must be hollowbody if it's not electric. I would go by whatever Barcus Berry recommends as the application for that piezo. They can also answer the question about the finish.

If it's got soundholes I would mount to the underside. For acoustic guitars it's common to wire pickups through the strap peg and that may be something to think about.

I'd try mounting it inside the guitar to avoid any issues with finish.
I have a theory that it could sound good if you could hold it in place under the bridge with a double-bass style soundpost - a piece of dowel cut to the right length (bridge to back) that stays in place by friction.
