| Bart 6RT in a P-bass?

I like my P-bass with a narrowed string spacing down to 2 1/8, which fits my right hand better than the full width 2 1/4. No, it's not much, but it's just enough and I like it. I don't have the largest hands, and it takes all the strain out of my fingers that tires me out on a full width F space bridge. I also like the tone of vintage P-bass pickup, but I don't like the offset, and of course with a narrowed bridge spacing the polepieces don't line up. So I'm looking for a new splitcoil pickup that will sound like a P, but in line and not offset. The DiMarzio Split P solves the polepiece issue, but not the inline issue. And I want to retain a smaller pickup, not go for EMG35 size soapbars.
I came across the Bart 6RT, which, of course, is made for a Rick 4001/3. That pickup and its descriptions here and elsewhere look promising.
I have a 4002 with its stock split coil humbuckers, which sound great. But you really have to crank the 1.5k slider and dump top end to get a "P" emulation when you need it, softening the attack, etc., and that's just not fair to what that bass can do otherwise.
So my custom P with the usual alder/maple/rosewood has a Rick HB-1 in it right now, lined up where the "G" half of a P pickup is, but that pickup almost has too much rise at @1.3 kilohertz.
Anybody out there tried a Bart 6RT in the mid P position? And if so, what is the widest string spacing a Bart 6RT can support?
