Bart CB pups vs New Lakland pups

Sign in to disble this ad
I've got a Lakland 4-94 and I'm thinking about changing the original Bart pups out for a set of either Bart CB's or the new Lakland pups. Keeping the Bart pre at this point. Has anyone done a side by side comparison?
Any feedback is apprciated.

FWIW:

if it's a new pup then it's unlikely anybody's done a side by side.

Can't keep all these basses straight but seems that's the Lakland import (my ignorance if not).

I'd either contact Lakland for feedback or go to harmonycentral.com reviews and see if those guys have done some transplanting.

I knew this was a tough question being that the Lakland pups are so new.
Thanks for the reply.

I can't imagine the Lakland pups would be better than Barts...

They aren't necessarily better, just different.

My limited experience with the new electronics is that they have a bit more of a "flat" response, and therefore a bit more warmth in the mids than the Bart electronics. They also have a bit more of a Single Coil-like tone, a kind of "openness" is all I can think of. Also, the midrange freq. selector has about 3-4 more options than the 4 choices available on the Bart preamp.

Bottom Line: The Barts are still great, and the new pickups are just as good, but the two are pretty different animals.

Thanks for the info. Keep in mind I'm not interested in comparisons between a Lakland Bart bass, because this has the older design Bart pups. I'm looking for a comparison between the new Bart CB stuff compared to the new Lakland stuff. Dose anyone have a source for sound clips on the new Lakland pups?
