i was looking at these for my fender jazz and wasnt quite sure if they were passive or not, so i was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with them thanks

Yes the "CB" series is passive. There is a 1 and a 3 type for the dual coil model but not sure if there is a 3 (or 1) choice for the single coil model. I just dropped a set of the 9CBJD1 with new 500k pots. The low end clarity is awsome - very happy!
I'm sure the 'JS' models are a little 'jazzier' than the 'JD' - more growl.
