Question Bartolini HR on board preamps... what's the vibe?

not been able to find many reviews of these on board pre's... I'm considering putting a vol/vol/stacked bass treble in my (soon to be) PJ fender with Nordstrand Pickups. Are these Bart pre's natural sounding or more hyped? I'm looking for something to keep the naturalness of the P/J pickups but with more grunt...

FWIW:

had a bunch of Bart pre's (a lot more than what's in Dimento's onboard preamp experiemtn in FAQ).

The most transparent preamp I've had was the OBP-1. In fact it was so transparent I took it out cause I couldn't tell it did anything. The Barts, OBP-3, EMG's, basically sounded like boost and cut of the same thing. So sounds like any of them would fit the bill. Stay away from the Alembic. The Sads not cheap but it's transparent and can be addictive.

I have 2 basses both with bart pres. One was custom made for washburn (XB925) and the other is a HR-4.6. The mid's can change the whole tone of what is tune in when in the active sweep mode on the 4.6 and the other one as well. That's something to consider. Other than that....sweet!

The only basses I have liked have been my Lakland, Modulus and current Yamaha - all with Bartolini preamps.
