Anyone have this combo? How is the slap tone?? Any growl at all? Does Bartolini do a vintage pup? I am having a custom bass built for me and I'm considering this combination. Partially because Larry Graham has Barts in his Moon bass. Granted his is a 4 coil more complicated deal. I'm looking to just put in a simple 2 wires each pup setup. |

I sounds like a really clean vintage tone on the neck pickup maybe slightly to clean for some one looking for fat wrm vintage, but to me It sounds great.
The bridge pickup sounds growly and zingy at the same time, I love it also, it is almost stingrayish in tone.
these CB barts are not as dark as barts usually are, they still retain the classic bart tone, but with better high end, and more tighter low end.
The audere pre sounds amazing, it has so many options and each option changes the tonal charactor of the bass.
When it comes to slap tone it sounds great, you can get many variations of slap tone as you try different z modes, and it sounds really good, the closer you pan it to the middle (both pickups on) slightly past the middle towards the neck pickup has that old vintage 70's slap tone, and slightly past the middel towards the bridge and that more modern slap tone, and even more towards the bridge it starts to sould a little like a stingray in slap tone.
I also wanted to add that i swapped out the bridge for a fender drop in "hipshot A" brass one, and now i get awesome sustain, and clarity.
hope this helps
