Bartolini l9 jazz set w/audere pre

happened by a local music store and saw a set of barts sitting on the counter. i asked the owner where they came from and he said a guy just traded them in. i asked him how much and he said $75 out the door. sold! popped them in and used them on a gig this past weekend. it will take a while to really test these guys out but initial impressions are very favorable. very warm bottom and solid low end but tight. mids sit in the mix really well without being obnoxious, and the highs are slightly subdued but really jump out with slap techniques. the response is pretty even between strings which is the primary reason i've been thinking about new pickups. the stock fender noisless pickups sounded somewhat anemic to me on the d and g strings. i'll do a couple of more gigs with them and see if they still impress me.

btw the audere seems to work well with these, and the bass is a mim deluxe.

I used the 9J classis in a real brite bass to help darken it up a little. They come across as somewhat scooped - definately a tonality of it's own. That bass had the pre from a MIA Deluxe J (USACG 1 pc Swamp Ash body, BA bridge, 97 Fender USA J neck). That bass really turned out well and the Bart's were part of that for me. Oddly enough - it's the only Bart set that I've ever liked.
