| | | Bartolini Mk-1-5 Hello. I just bought an Ibanez SR605, it comes with Bartolini MK1-5. I would like to change them for something that will make it sound more like a Kevin Smith (a more compressed, thick, low-mid sound) ...
Any sugeestions?
Thanks!

Not the same as the US version of that pickup which is an MK-5. Ken Smith has specially designed pickups and preamps that give it their sound, which is quite 'burpy' in the midrange. Don't know if they sell them separately. Personally, I'd put US Bartolini MK-5's (or Norstrand) pups and a US Bartolini preamp in there. The preamp may be fine though. |

"Olaf, metal!" lol!
Anyway...I have MK5's with Audere pre's in both my Laklands. Wire up those MK5's with a 3 way switch for inner/outer/series and you can out-tone just about anything.
