bartolini mk-1 pickup info

I just got an Ibanez SR505 with Bartolini mk-1 pickups and I was interested in their specifications, but the Bartolini website doesn't even list them. Does anybody out there know anything about these pickups, or where I might find information concerning them?

All I know is that they're humbucking, and they allegedly have a "well-balanced tone" (according to the Ibanez website). I have them in a Cort.

Bartolini doesn't know anything about them because Bartolini doesn't make them. It is my understanding the name is licensed. Personally, I would not be surprised if Cort makes them and the Ibanez SR505.

They are Korean made for Bartolini. I had a Lakland 55-01 with them. The sounded pretty good to me.

Yep, I figured as much. The sales folks were all over shouting out "Bartolini, Bartolini," but I figured it was just a knock-off who bought the name. They sounded nice, though, with the 3 band EQ, so I'm happy with the guitar. It's plugged in through my "beginner" amp... a Fender Rumble 100 (made in Indonesia, so I guess they all feel at home with each other!) Now if I can just figure out where beginner amps let off and pro amps begin!

Probably Samick. They still make a lot of the Ibanez stuff.

The guitar player in one of my bands (who also plays bass) has a Fender Rumble 100. I've used it on many small gigs. It sounds great. I certainly wouldn't call it a beginners amp. It is perfect for any situation where you don't need a lot of volume. We are a 3 piece band - bass, drums and guitar - and it is has enough volume for small gigs. Since I've made quite a bit of money using one I would call it a pro amp..... although the flashing red lights are a little cheesy.

I also used my Lakland 55-01 with MK-1 pickups on a lot of gigs. It was my main bass for a couple of years. Those pickups are gig worthy too.

The pickups are split coil humbucking....though are still quite noisey.
Kind of like reverse p pickups in boxes.

The ones in my Lakland were not noisy at all.
