Bartolini MK Questions

Sign in to disble this ad
Okay, I'm going to be out of town so I thought that if I were to get some work done on my bass I should do it then.

What changes in tone will I experience by switching out the stock mk1 pickups and preamp with The Bartolini MKs that are supposed to be perfect fit replacements.

I have a 2006 Ibanez SR506 so the pickups are closer to the bridge than the newer models. I find that the bridge pickup is too close to the bridge so as making it too quacky sounding. Will this switch out make the bridge less quacky. I know moving the position of the pickup would do this but I don't want extra routing.

I have searched this topic on the forums and all I can find is that they are "warmer." I don't know if they mean warmer in the sense of 350hz mud or what though. Are these pickups going to sound more detailed since they are a more top end make?

I had Mk1's in my Lakland 5501 and replaced them with MK5's. The MK5's were clearer, more highs and more lows. They are basically the same kind of sound but a perfected version of the same pickup. I hope I was some help.

So just a better made pickup that is more defined in it's sound? Sounds perfect to me! Thank you very much.

Any other opinions or experiences?
