The only ones I know of are the Seymour Duncan active phase 1 pickups but I've been having a hell of a time finding them around.

Those Seymour Duncans look to be a bit too square to fit. I could also only find the 5 string version.

I'm pretty sure they only make 5 and 6 string versions (although I could be wrong) and the measurements are almost identical, but they are a tiny bit skinnier. I had them in a Ibanez SR505 for a while and the tech said they fit with no problems.

Just checked measurements on these. Actually the 5 string version would be a closer fit, still too small and would leave a small gap on all sides. Additionally, the way the magnet is split, they wouldn't sound right with a 4 string....

anyone else?

Those are actually the same size as the Duncans I mentioned, but they do have them in a 4 string version.

Carvin soapbars are the same size as well and they work for 4,5 and 6 strings.

Delano SBC driver series pickups are the size you are looking for.
They are available in dual and quadcoil versions.

They sound terrific

I offer the BC 4 string size (100.5mm X 32.3mm), and the P2 five string size which is 107.8mm x 32.3mm.

The MK is 108mm X 34mm. So the P2 is the closest match. It's 1.7mm narrower, so when you split the difference that's less than a mm on each side (.85mm).

I make three kinds of pickups in that shape. They all use blades so they work with any number of strings.

Hmmm.... okay very nice so, if I may, let me tell you what I'm going for and you can direct me towards what model you feel would suit me best...

With dual humbucker basses I usually blend 20/80 neck/bridge, I play at the bridge pickups and have a very light attack. I've always like the sound of the ceramic pickups Ive had in the past, but also liked some of the blade-style ferrites. I play in low-b standard and need a lot of CLEAR low-mids and hi-mids. I use a tweeterless cab, and roll off treble a touch when recording, so EMG-type treble is unimportant. Years ago I had a 1996 Warwick 6 strings with Seymour Duncan soaps in it. Although I'm unsure of the model, I though those were the nicest sounding pickups Ive heard to date...

What are your suggestions?

I recommend the ND3 neo humbuckers

http://www.sgd-lutherie.com/pages/ND3-BC5.html

I designed the bridge pickup to sound good soloed, since I was mostly playing using only the bridge pickup at the time. So I wanted something that didn't thin out, and still had good clarity.

The neck pickup sounds like a more hi-fi P bass, and the two mix together great.

These days I find myself soloing the neck pickup more.

You're going to love the SGD ND3 "wide-aperture" pickups. They have a lot of clear, usable midrange, and they sound very balanced.
