Bartolini and Squier
Does anyone know if Bartolini 5 string pickups will fit
Without having to route?
Thanks for your time!
Oh, would a Bartolini preamp fit in either of these as well?
Whether or not they fit, or even assuming they do, is it cost-effective?
It is if I like the feel of the bass but want a different sound after awhile.
The pickups should fit as I'm not aware of Squier using different size pickups from the Fenders. Go to BestBassGear.com and look at the pickups. They will have the dimensions. You can contact them and they'll let you know.
From eyeballing the VM5 jazzes that I've played, it seemed to me that the Bart 57 jazz pickups would be the correct size.
If you do get in touch with BestBassGear, please post their response.
If your are replacing the pickup you cant use a 5 string in a 4 string housing. notice that the pickup is configured 3+2, Nordstrand makes a replacement The NP5 for Fender 5 string http://www.bestbassgear.com/nordstra...tm#nordstrandp
and I've seen low cost versions on Ebay.
From the pictures and dimensions of the Bart 5 string P set it doesn't look like they are a short/long coil like that Squier 5 String
The Jazz will work just fine.
I was able to get an Aguilar OBP 2 In a factory Jazz rout, but I had to rout a cavity under the pick guard for the battery. Its a very tight fit, If I were to do it again I would have routed the cavity big enough for the battery and pre.
I measured my pickups. I got 3.97" neck, 4.14" bridge. Used digital calipers.
