bridge ground

Sign in to disble this ad
i apologize if this is adumb question r has been answered already, i did several searches and im still kind of confused. on guitarnuts its sounds as if removing the bridge ground removes the danger of electric shock due to faulty equipment or in some cases wiring. if thats true, then what is the down side. i have just shielded my p bass using schematics and help from TB and guitar nuts but im still confused on this. i am of course, new to electronics. thanks to TB ahead of time for being a wealth of knowledge, you guys are great

The downside is noise!

If your bridge isn't grounded properly then your strings act like antennae and will pick up all kinds of RF buzz which will only disappear when you touch the strings or another metal part on the bass.
