Building my own DI. Where can I find X-formers?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone.
I have decided to build my own DI box, but cannot seem to find transformers anywhere. Well, actually I did find the jensen stuff, but that is WAY too expensive. I was thinking more $20 to $25 dollar range (like the ones found in whilrwind stuff, they seem good enough for what I would like to do)

Any suggestions on where I can find some?
(aside from ripping the super cheap ones out of a radio shack adapters)

Thanks!

Seems like building your own DI would be a way to get a high quality unit for cheaper. A good DI is around 150 to 200$.

A high quality transformer can be had for 70 to 90 dollars. so its a small amount of savings. dont forget time, a case, jacks , switches wire and board and it adds up a little.

But I can understand the cheap route. instead of getting a cheap 20 dollar transformer. You can buy this and just use it...or steal it for parts. its has case and jacks too.

or try Edcor transformers or Hammond Transformers
