Bypass active electronics is it possible?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi!

I want to bypass my active EQ - make active/passive switch and push/pull knob.

Is it possible?

Here is wiring diagram of my bass:

If some one have done it please give your experience!

As long as the pickups are passive you can always bypass active electronics. That doesn't mean you'll have any controls, though!!! The only time you can't bypass active electronics is when there is a preamp built into the pickup itself (like most EMGs).

If you want to run passive only you can wire in new volume and tone controls like a normal Jazz Bass, but being able to have full control in both active and passive modes can be much more difficult.

My idea is to have practically active bass, but with emergency push/pull knob if in middle of jam by power V18 become dead.
I have Victor Bailey Jazz bass and it hasn't pre in pickups.

I don't really care if there is any tonal options on passive mode - just volume...

Is it possible?

My warwick corvette double humbucker has something like that, the volume knob pops out and its in passive push it back in and its active again. When its in passive it has one other knob that works for tweakin the tone. So its possible
