bypass preamp wiring help

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a schecter diamond bass with an active preamp. I want to cut this preamp out of the loop to see how the passive Pups sound alone. The wiring is as follows:

whites from pups to blend pot.
from blend to control unit
from control unit to volume
from volume to jack.

the eq pups are on a seperate loop to and from the control unit

the battery sits between the control unit and the jack.

can bypass the preamp by just connecting the white from the blend pot to the volume pot and disconnect the battery? I realize i will lose tone control.

does this description make enough sense? ( I can't find a diagram)
thanks for any help.

See if this helps, or at least it will give you a good idea.

IIRC, If you don't want the "tone", you can take it out of the equation.

thanks! I sort of applied the schematic, soldered a few spots, and presto. asounds great - no more battery - maybe new pickups next. could one of the leftover eq pots be wired up as a tone pot? are the interrnals of the pot the same?

I'm shooting in the dark here, but, I'm guessing the pot you want to use is either 100k or 250k. I do not see why you couldn't. Try a .05 cap like in the diagram.
