Bypassing the low pass filter

Sign in to disble this ad
In a full range, 3-way, passive PA cabinet, would there be any harm to bypassing the low pass filter and running the woofer full range ? I ask because I believe I have a blown component that is distorting the sound of the woofer (I've verified that it is NOT a blown speaker) and repairing the crossover seems like a hassle. I've jumpered the input jack directly to the woofer and it seems to sound fine. (The mid horn and tweeter are still running off the crossover.) But there must be a reason for that low pass filter !
