besides a band, what are these. i think DC is Direct current and AC is active current? but what do these mean?!?!

Alternating current is the kind of electricty that comes through your wall. AC constantly changes it's direction of flow. DC is direct current it basically always flows in one direction. Batteries produce DC power.
