I have been having weird problems with all my amps and I think I have narrowed down to the instrument cables. I use Monster Bass cables but there are like 10 years old and have had lots of time on stages being walked on and beer spilled on them - but they work. The issue is a static sound that is apparent when I play each note. The other night I plugged into my bass head and "POP" the amp blew. Could I be harming my speakers or the amp by using worn out cables??
So my question is this - Can a worn out cable cause these problems. IF so maybe it's time for new cables?
So if anyone is interested I found that it was, in fact, a cable problem. It was actually the speakon to speakon speaker cable that was causing the noise, I replaced it with a Lava speaker cable and no problems!!
